TEXT MATERIAL AND EXAMINATIONS

TEXT MATERIAL

In our text material we use understandable language and not "legalese." This allows us to introduce complex legal issues that pertain to claims yet explain them so students will understand their practical application. This, in turn, enables students to put these principles to good use in their own claims work. State-by-state explanations of key issues are also provided.

In addition to the text, actual court decisions are presented to illustrate the subject matter being discussed. By reading these real-life court opinions, students will develop a better understanding of how courts have ruled in the past and are likely to rule in the future on important issues in claims.

Our professional staff of counselors is made up of legally trained educators experienced in muti-line claims. They are responsible for writing, revising and updating all course materials and writing exam questions as well as explanatory comments which are returned to students after their exams are graded.

EXAMINATIONS

Each course requires a 20 question multiple-choice examination. The exam questions are built around actual claim situations so students analyze issues that parallel their own claim files.

The student will follow his or her schedule when submitting exams. The schedule allows eight months  to complete a program. (Note: if additional time is needed and the student’s company allows it, a six month extension of time to complete the program may be granted upon the student’s request and this is free of charge.)

The schedule allows two months to complete the first exam and one month to complete each of the subsequent six exams in the program. The student may go at a faster pace, but upon successfully completing an exam, the student must wait 15 days to take the next exam. The next exam will become available on its available date, 15 days after successful completion of the previous exam. This 15 day period is to allow the student to read and study the text material in preparation for the next exam. The exam may be taken on or after the available date indicated on the student’s online schedule.

At the end of the 15 day reading period, the student should log on to the AEI website – Online Exam – and click on the appropriate program and course. The exam and answer sheet will appear on the screen. The student should print the exam at this time. When the student is ready to submit the answers to this exam, he or she should log back on and submit the answers electronically. The graded exam along with counselor comments will be returned immediately. There is no time limit within which the student must submit the exam answers after printing the exam. All that is required is that the student follow the schedule received upon enrollment. Upon successful completion of the exam, the student may begin reading and studying for the next exam which will become available in 15 days.

If a student does not pass an exam, a makeup exam (and a second makeup, if necessary) is included as part of the tuition for each course. If a student does not successfully complete the third exam, a fourth exam requires an examination fee of $50.

Our grading system is as follows:
    E = Excellent
    G = Good
    S = Satisfactory
    F = Failure
    (in the event of a failure, a make-up exam is provided;
    the failing grade is replaced with the grade achieved on
    the make-up once the make-up is passed)

Our counselors are available by phone (toll free 800-631-8183), or e-mail (counselor@aeiclaimslaw.com) to answer questions about the text material and offer guidance to students as they progress through the program.
