LAW OF LIFE INSURANCE FRAUD

LAW OF LIFE INSURANCE FRAUD
(Course Textbook Consists of 155 pages)

The Law of Life Insurance Fraud course covers the important legal issues that affect the early recognition and investigation of suspicious life insurance claims. The insurance professional will learn how policy and statutory language is interpreted in the courts. Important topics such as misrepresentation and concealment are examined along with the meaning of incontestability and suicide exclusions. Which state statutes require that a misrepresentation in the policy application be causally related to the insured’s subsequent death in order for the insurer to be in a position to assert a defense? Which state courts have held that a misrepresentation about smoking habits is material to the risk? These are just some of the important issues discussed in Law of Life Insurance Fraud.

Throughout the text, examples and actual court cases are presented on such subjects as faked deaths, foreign deaths, infanticide, suicide and viatical settlements to illustrate how the legal issues relating to fraudulent life insurance claims have been handled by the courts.

The new course will be offered as a stand-alone only and not as part of any AEI property-casualty claims law programs. As with all AEI stand-alone courses, the fee will be $155. If you are solely involved in property-casualty claims, feel free to pass this information along to your colleagues on the life insurance side.
