Designations Overview

AEI's programs lead to professional designations and awards widely recognized in the insurance industry as a mark of achievement.

How designations work

Completing any single AEI program earns a Specialist designation. Completing the Legal Principles program plus any other program earns an Associate designation. The table to the right shows every combination and its corresponding designation.

The SCLA — the highest designation

The Senior Claim Law Associate (SCLA) is the premier designation in claims law education, earned by completing Legal Principles plus any three of the five specialty programs: Liability, Property, Workers' Compensation, Automobile Claims and Coverage, and Claims Fraud Investigation and Defense.

Going further earns additional recognition: completing a fifth program earns SCLA Silver, and completing all six programs earns SCLA Gold.

What your designation unlocks

In addition to industry recognition, earning an AEI designation makes you eligible to join the Society of Claim Law Associates — an organization dedicated to claims education and professionalism.

A student who, after earning the SCLA, goes on to complete a fifth program earns the SCLA Silver Award and completing a sixth program, earns the SCLA Gold Award.  Click here for more information.
